Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Product Quiz ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app lets you build product-finder quizzes, show them on your store with a theme app block or pop-up button, recommend products from your catalogue, see anonymous analytics, and (on Pro) branch between questions, ask for an email that is saved to your Shopify customers, and see revenue from quiz-added items. Recommendations follow the rules you set; we don't guarantee any sales outcome. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Billing

Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can change or cancel your plan at any time on Shopify's plan page (Plans in the app) or by uninstalling the app; a move from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Your responsibilities

You decide what your quizzes ask and how answers map to products. If you use the email step, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to collect emails, for telling shoppers how you use them (for example in your store's privacy policy, which the email step links to), for the wording of the marketing consent checkbox, and for following the email marketing laws that apply when you contact the people who consent. Don't use short-text questions to collect payment card numbers, passwords, government ID numbers or health information.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available and secure, but it is provided "as is". The quiz runs from your storefront and keeps working if our servers are briefly unreachable; analytics and email sign-ups sent during such an outage may be lost. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your shoppers on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only what the quiz needs: anonymous counts for analytics; for the email step, the shopper's email, consent choice and (if you turn it on) answers, which we write to your Shopify customers without keeping a copy; and paid orders' line items to total quiz revenue;
  • delete analytics after 13 months, order IDs after 30 days, and everything on Shopify's erasure and shop-redaction requests;
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting and database) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
