Getting started

  1. Install Mint Product Quiz from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a short setup checklist.
  2. Build your quiz: click Create a quiz and pick a template (routine finder, gift finder or blank). Edit questions and answers; the preview on the right runs the real quiz.
  3. Match answers to products: open an answer and add product tags, collections or products, each with points (negative points push products down or out). Choose a fallback collection under Results, click Save, and use Check the results to see what each set of answers recommends and why.
  4. Add it to your store: on the app home choose where and click Add quiz to store. The theme editor opens with the Product quiz block added; click Save. Or click Add pop-up button to switch on the floating button. Any link to #mint-quiz opens the pop-up too.

How results are chosen

  • Each product gets the points of every chosen answer it matches (by tag, collection or pick).
  • Highest points first. On a tie, the product that matched more questions wins, then the order you chose (newest, A–Z, or most in stock).
  • If fewer products match than you want to show, your fallback collection fills the rest (never products an answer gave negative points). If nothing matches, shoppers see the fallback collection with a note.
  • Sold-out products are skipped when "Hide sold-out products" is on — checked live when results load.
  • Products are only considered when they are active and published to your Online Store. Matches refresh within about 10 minutes of a product or collection change, and at least once a day.

Common questions

The block says "no quiz with the ID …". Copy the ID from the Quizzes page (8 letters and numbers), or leave the Quiz ID setting empty to show your first quiz.

Shoppers see a "Browse all products" link instead of the quiz. On Free, that happens once the month's 50 completions are used; the quiz comes back on the 1st of next month (UTC) or as soon as you upgrade.

An answer shows "No products found yet". No active product published to your Online Store has that tag or is in that collection. Check the spelling of the tag (case doesn't matter) and save again.

Email sign-ups aren't appearing (Pro). Sign-ups are saved to Customers with the tag shown in the quiz editor. If Shopify hasn't granted the app access to customer data yet, the app home shows a notice; shoppers still see their results.

I changed the app proxy URL. The quiz sends analytics and email sign-ups to /apps/mint-quiz. If you changed that path, change it back; the quiz itself keeps working either way.

Billing

Free includes one quiz and 50 completions per month, with weighted matching, sold-out filtering, add to cart, shareable results and the pop-up button; a small “Powered by Mint Product Quiz” line shows under the quiz. Pro is billed through Shopify at $8.99/month after a 7-day free trial and adds unlimited quizzes and completions, branching, the email step, detailed analytics with revenue, custom colours, and no app branding.

To upgrade, downgrade or cancel, open Plans in the app and click Choose a plan (or Manage plan on Pro): Shopify's plan page opens, and you come back to Plans when you're done. Shopify bills the plan on your regular invoice; a move from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for. Uninstalling the app also cancels Pro. Moving to Free keeps your quizzes and analytics; your first live quiz keeps working without the Pro features.

Privacy

See our privacy policy, security policy and data processing addendum. In short: the app stores no shopper personal data, analytics are anonymous counts, and email sign-ups go straight to your Shopify customers.
